One Step Forward…

Lots of great new stuff coming our way and this week I’m very excited to announce some of our new artists featured on RoS:

Jon Garner Trio
Jon Hollins
The Locals
Phoenix Block
Ryan Purcell

I’ve also cycled out some of the more recent Trevor Tanner songs and cycled in some more off of his most recent release, “Eaten By The Sea” available from Emperor Penguin Recordings. GO BUY THAT CD!

I Never Thought…

…but sure enough, there it is, a straight out of the dance club techno song on RoS. But this one, well, it’s different. The lyrics seem to seep into my head whenever I accidentally find myself reading the Entertainment section of <insert favorite mainstream newspaper here>.

Plus a few other new artists … just for you.

Introducing, new on RoS this week, music from:

DJ Islander
Dan Weintraub
Ginger Mackenzie
Kanarek
Lucibel Crater

I’ve given up trying to apologize for not keeping up with things. There’s way too much going on right now. But at least new music is trickling in at this point … maybe June will be a better month?

And Now For Something Completely Different

Life goes on and so does RoS. This week we feature new music from:

Bird Mancini

Dimension Zero

MouseAbout

Zazerkalie

Millsted

Now the list of new (to me) artists has grown even further … which means I have grown even further behind in my reviews. But the important thing is you can come listen to these new artists right now!

New For Now

I’ve been head down in my day job and listening to a lot of “Eaten By The Sea” but I still am out there listening for new artists to pepper the etherwaves of RoS. Among the gems I’ve come across in the last few weeks are:

Poor Billy

Cavedoll

Tiernan

Triptaka

Model K

…with much much more to come. I’d like to thank all of you who have sent music our way … and apologize for how long it’s taking me to get the web site updated with reviews. I’m getting there, I swear…

I also wanted to mention I’ve added something I came across on Sirius this morning and was happy to find on emusic … a cover of “Gin and Juice” by an Austin band called The Gourds. Love it, love it…

Until next time … hopefully sooner than later.

Eaten By The Sea

Trevor Tanner’s new album Eaten By The Sea is finally available on iTunes. This is a true masterpiece and I really, really encourage you to go to iTunes and buy it NOW!

For more information check out http://www.thousandsrise.com

Full review coming soon … since I am still so behind on everything here. But really, this one is THE album to buy. Trevor Tanner is the reason I started Rae of Sound to begin with back in 2004. And this new album … it speaks for itself. Please go buy it!

You can listen to four of the new tracks on Rae of Sound, too.

More Music - Less Time

I’m still here.

The site has been clearly neglected but more importantly, the station has not.

New this week on RoS we have tracks from bands such as…

Run To Sandy

Nuclear Forehead

Okra Win Free

CEOz

frantic

Bergen County Firefighters Pipe Band.

I really, really intend to write brief reviews of all the artists that I find (or find us, for that matter).

For now though, come listen!

1, 2 stupid … 3, 4 dumb .. 5,6 idiotic .. 7, 8 Seat Bee Sate

Rae of Sound is doing great since going back online a mere eight days ago. We’ve had listeners as close as our home in Dallas, TX and as far away as the Ukraine and France. I’m very, very excited to see the station picking up again so quickly.

For those of you just tuning in, RoS was online on Live 365 from 2005 to early 2007. The station took a hiatus until March 4, 2008. Now it’s back on the air with a new URL but the same great selection of alternative and independent artists that I think make the station a one-of-a-kind listening experience.

Among some of the most recent highlights that I will write about here as soon as I can are the addition of Fuji Minx from Orange, California. Also rumor has it that Trevor Tanner’s long-anticipated new release “Eaten By The Sea” from EPR is due to be released at iTunes very, very soon.

I’ve also set up a new myspace account which I’m a little hesitant about since it seems as though one has to wade through a vast wasteland of absolute crap to find the gems hidden there. But it’s there nevertheless and despite my reluctance, during the first incarnation of RoS I definitely found some great musicians via MySpace so hell, I may as well give it a shot.

That’s all for now. I’m looking forward to finding more new music for the station and updating this site with more artist information and links.

RoS Is On The Air

OK, I did it. Rae of Sound is back on the air with a new and improved URL. Please come by and give us a listen, http://www.live365.com/stations/raeofsound

Going Back Online?

I am considering bringing RoS back online at Live365. Of course, just today, they announced rate hikes. So now I’m just not sure. More to come …
